XForms Namespace News

According to John Boyer, co-chair of the XForms WG, XForms 1.1 is probably not introducing a new namespace just for the sake of it, contrary to what was stated so far. With regard to XForms, I personally don’t think it’s a language that’s really needed on the web. A simple date widget requires declarations in multiple places which complicates the copy and paste way of learning a lot. You really have to get a lot of things right on different places to make things work. Anyway, I can see there is some value for it on the more closed areas of the web and I’m therefore happy they didn’t go down the SMIL road. Good news for a change.
