Musical Baton

Apparently for the last few days — you must have noticed — some musical baton went through weblog land; or so to say, a part of it. Because I don’t want to spoil to fun for the people that handed me the ‘meme thing’ here it goes.

(Andrew Hayward collected some history on this for those who are interested. That leaded of course to the inevitable that he got memed himself.)

People who passed me the baton and will watch out in the future to do so (in chronological order)
Paul Haine — A Musical Baton
Henrik Lied — Musical Baton
Andrew Krespanis — Ain’t Nothin’ but a Meme Thing
Egor Kloos — I got hit in the head
Marten Veldthuis — Running around with a musical baton
Sjoerd Visscher — Musical Baton
Volume of Music on my computer according to iTunes in mebibytes
421,7 (you know I just got iTunes, right?)
The last CD I bought was
Air – Talkie Walkie
Song playing right now
Rank 1 — Such is Live (Sunday afternoon rework)
Five iPod mini shuffled songs because my history is too short for favorites or because I have too many
Oi Va Vio — D’Ror Yikra
Air — Talisman
Manu Chao — Por El Suelo
Moby — We Are All Made Of Stars
Röyksopp — Sparks
Five people who aren’t going to like me and to who I’m passing on the baton
Robbert Broersma — where art thou? He’s here
Arthur Steiner
Sjoerd Visscher
Mark Pilgrim (if he can find some spare time while writing his book) Apparently he has just gone retro, o well.
Jeffrey Zeldman — or was he mentioned already?

Sjoerd Visscher passed the baton back to me. Made me remember recursive acronyms. This is kind of the same. I guess you can also compare it with an animal that eats his own tail. (If that ever happens.)

  1. You can't beat a bit of Manu Chao. "Mama was Queen of the Mambo, Papa was King of the Congo, Deep down in the jungle I started bangin' my first bongo."

    Mmm.

  2. It's good nobody passed (as yet) the baton to me since, well, I don't have any music on my computer at all. Unbelievable, isn't it?

  3. Yes Charl, I don't believe you. Who doesn't have music on their computer? Unless you just got it today. ;)

  4. Heheh! Well, the funny thing is that I used to have some music on my computer, but sometime I reformatted and now I just listen to music directly on my CD player not even going through my computer. That way, when my computer crashes, I don't have to stop listening to music.

Sorry, this is the crappiest excuse I could think of. :-)

  5. Doesn’t Microsoft deliver some MIDI files with their OS?

  6. What makes you think I'm using Windows? ;-)

Actually, I'm still partially on Windows, but there must be some music both on Windows and Linux if I really go and dig hard...

  7. Yes! It took three of us, but we've momentarily convinced you to diverge from your technical writing path :D

  8. Won't anybody pass the baton to Ian Hickson? I'd like to see his reaction...

  9. Sander already tried to pass it to Hixie. I suppose it wouldn't hurt to try again, though.
