WebDrive

WebDrive is a brilliant piece of software. It feels like “live editing” on the server. What they do is mapping a drive named W: to the server you are connected with through FTP (or other protocol) and upload the files to the server every time you save the file. Until recently I could not figure out how to display .htaccess files. In Windows I already adjusted the “Folder Options” setting to show every possible file, but that didn’t cut it.

In WebDrive, to the right of the options for “Server Type” and “Drive” when adjusting site settings there is a “Properties” button. Hit it, hit the tab named “FTP” and enter -al as value for the “LIST options” text field. Thanks to Tarquin for suggesting that!
