Shinjuku Station (新宿駅) is the busiest station in Tokyo, and reportedly the busiest in the world. Over three and half million people go through it each day. Although you could surely notice it was not as busy during Golden Week, it was still pretty damn busy. I tried to avoid it early in the morning as you get stuffed like sardines in a train. At rush hour there are dedicated people to push people in a train, until they no longer get any movement out of the crowd. And not to worry, if the dedicated people are not there, someone else will take over. Nobody is shy when it is about securing a place on a train. Even when trains depart every three minutes.
