Exchange languages

Today the fourth period of university started and I had this class about exchange languages. It really was about XML, but for some reason it was named differently. I enjoyed it for a bit, counting the various mistakes and listening to how HTML is really a presentational language and “XML” is structural and semantic. Of course, that was followed with some brief chatting about XSL-FO and SVG… I made one comment during this introductory class, that valid XML requires a DTD. (To be fair, many people confuse well-formed and valid. To be more fair, I think it’s stupid that valid XML requires a DTD given the other validation languages out there like RelaxNG and XML Schema.)
